The state of Iowa has restrictions on what can be reported in a background screening report beyond what the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) dictates.

RestrictionExplanation
Applicant/subject cannot be required to pay for a background check or a portion thereofIf a certified copy of criminal history data is requested in writing from the state, the employer must pay for such fees.

Use of arrest record with no convictionA signed release is required for disclosure of criminal history data that does not contain any disposition after eighteen months from the date of arrest, or successful completion of probation following a deferred judgment.
