The state of Nebraska has restrictions on what can be reported in a background screening report beyond what the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) dictates.

RestrictionExplanation
Ban the Box: State Public EmployeesFOR PUBLIC EMPLOYERS ONLY: Public employer, except law enforcement, may not inquire about a criminal record until after it has determined the applicant meets minimum employment qualifications. "Public employer" includes all state, county, and city employees.

Notable Exceptions: Does not apply to public employers: 1) required to conduct a criminal records check by state or federal law, and/or 2) where state or federal law disqualifies an applicant with a criminal background
